Best ethical uses of a large email list from a previous shopify store?

Posted by seohelper on March 6, 2020 at 12:25 am

So basically i have my email lists from an old store I used to run which is now closed down. Around 50,000 or so mostly purchasers. I have a few segments for specific product sales as well. I started running a new store and while some products are somewhat similar, some are not. Whats the best use of this list? It also ranges from about 2 years old to 6 months ago.

My only thought was to upload to facebook for lookalike audiences. Im pretty sure I can’t use it to send out an email to everyone on my new store (correct me if I’m wrong) but I don’t want the two stores having anything to do with eachother ie: hey its me from xx come check out yy.

Just don’t want to be letting it go to waste that’s all since it is so large. Any good ideas?

    Thanks!

Yes don’t use it to email. Use it for lookalike audiences and use the emails and direct audiences based on purchase intent behavior

I’ve been in your situation exactly, but diff industry. Technically, under CANSPAM, you can email them once to get them to optin to your new list for repeated mail outs. But it’s not worth your time, difficulty with an ESP letting you execute that. Just make your LAL off the purchasers. Hell, 50k is enough to do a little retarget audience if you have a similar product. Don’t waste your time with emailing them.
