  • Backlink Budget of $500?

    Hey,

    I have an SEO client and am on top of all the on page SEO tactics.

    However I am struggling with backlinks, I have a budget of $500 just for backlinks and not sure how to spend it.

    Should I go for subscriptions like yellow pages etc? I am adding him to all the relevant business directories etc that are free. Not sure what type of links to get. It is for only local SEO, should I try and get links on local sites etc?

    I am not worried about time to get links as I have plenty, I just want to improve this businesses ranking to the highest as possible as it is my first freelancing client, and I want him to be a good case study.

    Try your hardest to avoid the guest posting “write for us” sites that are link farms over seas. Local, niche specific places. If it’s 500$(a month?) look into local chamber of commerce sites as they provide links usually. Look into local news sites, just search city + news, and they usually have sponsored content sections where you can pay to have a post.

    Try your hardest to stay local and niche specific. If you’re unable to stay with both, broaden it slightly.

    contact sites in your local area, like a bakery or a dry cleaner or ice cream parlor and get backlinks from them.

    a good way is to offer a community discount…

    a la “anyone living in X we support [insert plumber site here], mention our [beauty salon] and get a free appraisal/discount on a job”

    The main focus is to make your site more relevant for both place relevancy and topic/service relevancy, so the main options would be:

    – niche relevant sites (harder to get for local areas, so you probably can get a niche relevant backlinks without the local relevancy);
    – Local relevant sites (news websites, sponsors, local communities, boards…) that boost your local relevancy but are hard to find with a perfect niche relevancy (it’s hard to find a makeup artist-related site in exactly your local area that is also willing to give a backlink).

    You have to play with both, being extra aware of sites offering a public “guest post:write for us” page as the other comment said, and you’ll probably have to reach out with an email/using the contact info on those websites.

    Is this $500 per month? You can do the regular outreach and also digital PR.

    Type of links to target will depend on the niche of your client’s site. A local business would benefit from sites in the same geography, meaning local news, directories, etc.

    Some other options available too. No PBN, no Fiverr.
