  • Are Yoast snippets important?

I’m running out of things to do for my site for the time being, and I was wondering if optimizing meta snippets for Google through Yoast is a good way to spend time working on the site.

I’d probably have to go through about a hundred of my posts to update the Yoast snippets so that they get the green approval color instead of red.

I don’t think you will see a huge jump in traffic, but it may help give readers a better description on some posts other than what Google auto generates. Google just released a meta description guide with examples, so be sure and look it up.

Yoast is entirely an internal-facing plugin, and it is not affiliated with Google. I would not suggest spending a ton of time “optimizing” pages simply to get green colors to show up in your WordPress site. You’d be much better off continuing to identify net new content opportunities through competitive analysis/keyword research than to change a few words around just to get a green light in Yoast.

What do you mean, you’re running out of things to do?

Have you covered every topic in your niche in detail? Is there old content that could be updated to work better? Are your pages converting as well as they could be? Could your click through rates be improved? Are there keywords you should be getting clicks for that you aren’t getting clicks for?

Are you sure you’re doing everything you can to beat your competitors?
