  • Are the SEO companies that rank well for competitive keywords the best?

Posted by chrisgin on February 4, 2023 at 1:45 am

For example, if I Google “seo services USA”, are the companies that appear on page 1 better than all the other SEO companies in America? If not, how are they outranking the better ones?

Yeah, can’t help but feel bad for the 2nd-page serps for “search engine optimization”. Lol

They could be outranking them with more resources ie more backlinks. But the ones ranking highly with less backlinks would potentially be the better agencies, but also newer with possibly less experience.

Generally if you are looking for someone to get you to number one, you go with the person who is number one on the SERPs.

There is exceptions to that rule but the average eye wont be able to recognize it.

This is a common myth. You can’t Google the best ones, they’re booked.

    Hard to say.

Good SEOs can have a promoting website, but not all good SEOs have a promo website. Simply because they are too busy ranking sites for themselves or their clients or are inhouse.

I mean, they’ve proven they have the ability to do it. I rank really well for industry-specific SEO and web design terms, but we still only get like two inquiries a month from our rankings. My clients rank better than we do and get way more conversions. That’s because we seek out clients that we know can be highly profitable by being more discoverable on Google, like chiropractors, general contractors/custom home builders, fence companies, plumbers, HVAC companies, MedSpas, etc. Cold-calling and referrals are how we get a majority of our clients. I had three referrals on Friday alone.

it’s just the ones who that are big and have been around the longest that will rank for “seo services”, it does not mean they will provide that same service to you.

When I worked in the industry there was a juggernaugt in the UK that ranked for SEO. You google SEO and the company would show up top of page 1 for the keyword. Had a friend join and sign a contract and he paid £500 a month to receive £80 worth of work. Complete junk, and they would send reports where the website making no real changes what so ever. The rankings for the keywords would fluctuate and they would say this kw went up from page 5 to page 2 because of our tweaks, this keyword went down from page 2 to page 3 due to algorithm changes.

    It was a complete scam

The business was massive for being around so long and they ranked for SEO because of their age. They also had good inbound links because the content was great on THEIR website. But they did sod all for clients.

We rank for our area + seo on the map and organically. When we first started we did a lot of cold outreach and making connections in the industry. I started putting effort into my agencies site like I do for my clients sites and it helped a little. You’ll get about 2 leads a month.

If I was a non seo, I would probably reach out to the top 3 companies excluding the ads.
