Apologies if this has been covered, but what’s going on with Google’s meta descriptions?
For several of my sites, Google has stopped using my meta description and is now taking it from the page copy. Results are varied 🙂
Sorry if this has been highlights but could someone point me in the right direction?

Google’s done this for a while, if your description isn’t any good they can pull content from the page instead.
Try rewriting them.

Google will also show different descriptions to different users depending on the context of their search.

You could try rewriting it and see if after they crawl it gets updated. The comments below are bang on in that Google will try to match search queries but at the end of the day it’s all about the CTR for the big G.
