As someone who has made a living for the last 14 years running an SEO agency (which means linkbuilding), I can tell you confidently that 99% of SEO providers, agencies, and sellers, are scammers and liars.

Before you even think about paying someone to build links for you, there are two things you should do:

    1) learn how to do it yourself (more expensive in the short term, cheaper over the long term)

    2) learn exactly how it works **so you know what questions to ask potential sellers and know how to detect their bullshit, because you will be surrounded in it**.

Linkbuilding is one of the things that if you do it poorly, it can affect your website for the rest of time. If you do this intentionally to your competition, it’s called negative SEO. (Don’t do it)

If you research it fulltime, it will take you probably a week or so (40-80 hours at least) to fully understand it. The problem is finding good sources, because 99% of SEO bloggers won’t even talk about backlinks, much less actually understand how to do it correctly.

Here’s a quick guide for you:

    – forum profile links = 100% worthless spam

    – blog comments = 100% worthless spam

    – PBNs = 99.9% worthless low quality spam

    – anything on “SEO Hosting” or “unique C Class IPs” = worthless low quality spam

    – spun content = worthless low quality spam

    – guest posting or link outreach = 50% chance of being worthless and, or dangerous, 100% chance of being a huge waste of time to try and find them

You know you are prepared when you see 100 backlink posts and can quickly identify which of them are liars in less than a minute. Hint: the answer is probably 99 of them.

The list up there just saved you the first 10 hours. Go go go!
