Analytics Showing Conversions that Didn’t Happen

Posted by seohelper on June 3, 2021 at 9:10 pm

Hey guys. Was wondering if yall could help me out with something.

I was looking in Google Analytics and the Google Display campaign is showing conversions that I have no evidence of in Hubspot.

For example, analytics showed a form submission at minute 16 on the third, but the only submissions I have are one from paid search and one from organic search later in the hour.

    This happens quite often.

    Can anybody explain?

I’d assume that this a difference of attribution between the platforms. Google analytics, Google Ads and HubSpot all have different models.

Take a look at the total count of conversions over a month long period in Google analytics and in HubSpot, regardless of attribution. Do the totals add up? If they do, this is further confirmation of it being an attribution confusion.

If they do not, there may be an issue with the implementation of tracking in Google Analytics.

I won’t go into the specific differences of attribution between Google Analytics and HubSpot, but it’s a Google search away. HubSpot looks at the first interaction that lead to a form submission whereas Google Analytics looks at the last non-direct interaction by default. So you should expect them to be different reflections of the same reality.

    Hope that helps-

Probably false positives. Check your tag manager and/or your conversion setup.
