To be fair, i was high when i came up with this thesis. Hear me out and let me know if I’m crazy? My thesis is that online tools are less shared than blogs. So, they probably have fewer links. Therefore if you build an online tool and be aggressive about link building and post on sites like Reddit that are “favoured” by Google in the current algorithm, you can outrank online tools that are 20 years old. What am i overlooking?

You’re overlooking 20 years of marketing which gives those tools authority and references across the web.

Not saying you can’t achieve something with a new approach against more traditional tools, but it won’t be that easy.

you are overlooking that you have it backwards – tools are linked much more often than blog posts.
