There’s a setting on the top right corner of the Twitter home page, that allows you to select between being shown the latest tweets first or the top tweets first, is this a choice between a chronological news feed and an algo feed?

Or is it that even when the option to see the latest tweets first is chosen, the algorithm picks the posts ,which are then shown in a chronological order?

In my opinion/experience, Top Tweet First = all tweets from accounts you follow, in reverse chronological order, expecpt in cases where Twitter suppresses the reach of a controversial tweet or user. Top Tweets = algo representation, not necessarily in order, of some tweets from accounts you follow.
