10 WAYS TO CREATE MORE COMPELLING CONTENT
1. Be ultra-specific. Instead of writing in general terms about topics, get very detailed. Instead of, “A healthy diet can help reduce blood pressure”, you can write, “Citrus fruits can have a dramatic effect on lowering one’s blood pressure, specifically grapefruit, oranges, and lemons”.
2. Share personal experiences. For example, you could describe how you personally swapped out chips for fruit and go on to describe how you felt and how it improved your health.
3. Include statistics. Statistics are a powerful and compelling way to strengthen your points. For example, “According to these 3 meta-studies (study1, study2, study3), having fruit every day can lower one’s blood pressure by 20%” (I just made that up, please don’t take it as actual medical advice)
4. Provide examples. A great way to do this is by literally saying, “For example”, then go on to provide 1 or 2 examples. You can even use “Another example” when you have multiple examples.
5. Keep paragraphs short. People don’t read webpages like a book. Instead, they like to skim to find the information they are looking for. Keep your paragraphs to 3-5 sentences. Sometimes you can even use 1 sentence paragraphs for emphasis.
6. Share quotes by experts. These have a similar effect similar to statistics but don’t include math and numbers. If the expert is an author, you could link to their book. You can use the WordPress block quote for this.
7. Use bullet points. Bullet points are much easier to digest and itemize. It becomes much more tangible in the reader’s mind.
8. Share visuals. Visuals can be a great way to break up long text and are a different kind of stimulus to keep the reader engaged. Images can be very powerful when used as examples, but they don’t necessarily need to be.
9. Use power words. These are descriptive words that are the extreme level and are much more impactful. For example, if you wanted to show something was “funny”, use the word “hilarious”. Instead of “smart”, use “genius”.
