I have had good experiences with gmail for retargeting, but it was with a big brand and we invested a lot on media. I usually got leads at roughly 2-2.5x my search brand campaigns CPA, which was a great cost for that account.

I don’t know how it would work for a smaller business. You should definitely run a small experiment and see how it goes.
