We are a new online business selling aftermarket car parts in the UK. We have really struggled to get any real growth or organic traffic to our site and then this morning! I checked SemRush and our visibility has crashed to 0%! it was only at 2% but it has been trending up over the last couple of months and now it has just been completely wiped out.

It has been a real struggle with SEO and I have spent a lot of money and time trying to improve things and when things look to be going the right way then all of a sudden it gets reset. The core update in March impacted organic traffic by 80% and now this. Any help or advice would be welcome in trying to understand what is going on

    Thanks

    James

Just to get you started, your color scheme cries out accessibility issues right away. Grey and orange arent easy to read off of. Secondly, are you doing any analytics on your site? If so you need a cookie a consent form, especially if you are in the UK. Both these things will have you penalized. As to what else could be going on, you will need some sort of site analysis to happen.

Step 1: Stop looking at Semrush and start looking at GSC.

eeek – no page structure – h1, h2 etc. No immediate explanation as to what the site is about. Not enough text. Blog content is ai generated I think.

Sorry, but you’re going to struggle to get this site ranked unless you make some major changes.

Hi mate – I’ve had a look at your site and there’s various reasons why you aren’t ranking well.

    1. You don’t have much authority. You need to get more backlinks, and not from coupon websites. You only have 8 domains linking to your website.
    2. Thin content. Your homepage and product pages suffer from the same issue… lack of content. Your competitors for your main keywords have more useful text content on each page. For your category pages (collection in your case), using the example of Forge car parts, you need to beef out that page. Google isn’t going to rank you if it’s just a product listing – have some more content on there like FAQ, reviews, snippets specific to those car parts.
    3. User Experience. Ditch the grey background on the main content. I like it at the top, but from below the “Shop now. Pay with Klarna” section make it all white and black text – it really hurts my eyes.
    4. Ditch the AI generated blogs. Yes, you can use ChatGPT to write blogs that rank.. but you’ve done it the wrong way. There needs to be structure, with relevant h2s, h3s etc. The blogs you have right now are very basic and won’t rank.

But seriously, the site has potential and there’s keywords there to take on (I just had a look), but if you iron those issues out you’ll start to rank better.

Here’s the good news. You are selling a product that inherently the buyers need help installing. It’s technical. You likely have some product knowledge so share it. Write helpful stuff. You are fishing with a net. Not fishing with a pole. Your blog and your content are the net. More content equals a bigger net more chances for fish to swim in it. Do suppliers have content? Do some parts have instruction sheets you could use for content ?

Some basic advice. Just searched for my Porsche Boxster 2002, reminds me I need new bilsteins… Anyways on any YMM page you should automate titles descriptions and h1s, but you seem to have created collection pages like the gt2. My 02 Boxster page just reads Porsche Aftermarket Parts

Just let every YMM combo generate optimized pages
