GuestFebruary 14, 2021 at 2:16 pmIt is slated for the release of IOS14.5 update which is due out early spring. About 2/3 of Apple users will opt out per recent polls taken.
That will be a big hit for Facebook in the US. However the US market has the most iPhone users. Most every other teir 1 country are Android dominant.
Fear not, my feeling is this is not a war between Apple and Zuck. It’s just a business play. Apple is aware they are literally giving FB billions of US dollars every year via the FB ads platform.
Apple will be releasing an advertising platform too. There is no way they won’t try and monetize their data.
There will always be adjustments to the digital advert market. Our job as marketers is to stay agile and shift to where the eyeballs are.
Good luck!!

GuestFebruary 14, 2021 at 3:09 pmBig impact. Large portion of FB revenue comes from value and app event optimization. But this won’t make FB useless.

GuestFebruary 14, 2021 at 3:48 pmHow would it become useless? They will still have a seemingly infinite amount of impressions…

GuestFebruary 14, 2021 at 4:43 pmiOS14 doesn’t just affect Facebook, it affects every app that collects data. Cookies going away for good later this year as well. The advertising industry will adapt, and if conversions api works like FB says it will, I think this whole thing is overblown.

GuestFebruary 14, 2021 at 6:30 pmIt’ll cause lower ad efficiency in the short term but I’m sure they’re thinking up some way to mitigate it.

GuestFebruary 14, 2021 at 6:55 pmIt will have an impact but they’re going to go deeper in to CRM and eCommerce systems to pull signals out directly (likely tied to first party records). Doesn’t solve for some of the upper funnel audience options loss which is why we’re seeing more demand for additional audience targeting solutions

GuestFebruary 14, 2021 at 7:28 pmWell one good thing might be if people quit advertising on FB the CPMs might go down.

GuestFebruary 14, 2021 at 7:43 pmThese machines that fb and google use are so powerful they are getting scary. The google machine can become a world class chess player in a few weeks. They use millions of data points in one click alone. I only think it’s a matter of time before fb and google find another way around Apple.

GuestFebruary 14, 2021 at 9:02 pmR.I.P re-marketing on ios. Apple must have a vendetta against Google Facebook all the big advertiser’s.

GuestFebruary 14, 2021 at 10:16 pmHahahaha imagine one of the top companies in the world becoming useless after an opt-in button.
They got hundreds (thousands) of very smart very well paid people who want to keep their job.
Pretty sure theyll figure it out.
