Why do creators use their full names name?

I noticed that creators I used to follow changed their “title” from their usernames to their full names. For example on Instagram, cutepolish to sandicrystal and extrapetite to jeanwang. Just wondering why this is and how is it better from a business standpoint?

Influencers/“freelancers” need to report any income on a 1099 that is more than $600. I bet it’s for continuity & legal purposes given that their name on their W-9 and all signed documents need to match their legal name. ie – matching their business name with their username

Business standpoint? Irrelevant.
Audience standpoint? It lends more of a feeling of authenticity.

I use my real name because I’m a published writer and photographer. It takes time to build and maintain a brand and sometimes usernames can become restrictive or confusing if you grow.

It’s a “personal brand” thing.

Using your name consistently across websites, social media accounts, LinkedIn builds trust, increases visibility, helps with SEO, and get you more leads. It’s really hard to actually get your name as a website so if you’re able, I say go for it.

Because it’s all about your own brand. Selling yourself. Or narcissism. Idk.

This is because it is easier to be searched, and now people get more professional. Before people come up with the concept of a stage name. But now they want people to know them, it’s easier to be found if you know their real name of them. That’s why. And if you can get your name without using any punctuation in between then why not? Haha

Using real names really looks more mature and enhances trust and helps build a personal brand.
Also, it is very useful in case people are searching for the given individual in different mediums – it simply makes it easy to search for “John Jonson” on Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Reddit.

It really depends on content creators if they wish to build their personal brand. So it is okay to use their first and last name. But if you think your name is difficult to pronounce, you can always consider using an online name.
