Our business just had a new website created. It seems like our organic traffic is down a bit from where it usually is. We aren’t paying the website company for SEO at the moment (1000/Month). I’m trying to understand it myself but its overwhelming. Where should I go to get our site analyzed and is it worth paying a company to manage monthly? And what companies are best if so….thanks!

Anytime you make a change to a website, there is a chance that it can have downstream impacts on SEO. Did you change the tech stack, layout, etc.?

Even though Google says they can crawl/render JS based sites, but this has been disproven by others, and I have worked on a site that used Angular and it did have a negative impact to organic visibility.

Moving text up/down on a page can also impact your visibility in search. SearchPilot has conducted several A/B tests on this.

Is it worth having someone pay attention to your SEO? Heck yeah it is. They would’ve worked with the developer to ensure that whatever they did to the site had minimal impact to your organic visibility. They can also help with content recommendations, optimizations and other things that can improve visibility and traffic.

Finding a good SEO is tough these days, especially on here or on Fiverr and other sites like it.

    My advice:

    * Set clear goals – what are you hoping to gain from hiring them?
    * Ask for some free consultation – you have your goal, you should ask for a free consultation. Solid agencies that aren’t trying to scam or make a quick buck will court you for your business.
    * Look at what brands the company has worked with previously. Are there any companies that you’ve heard of? Not a deal breaker but good to see if they have managed to do anything for other brands.
    * Ask them what techniques they are going to use. Ask for case studies, and references, do they have a blog? What are they posting about?
    * Set clear expectations about communication and reporting. Ask to see sample reporting that they have provided to other clients. This should include what they did the previous month. What did that do for your site for the month (KPIs). And what are they planning on doing next month.
