Voice was the future of search that was going to kill SEO. But here we are in 2023 still kicking. Just like everything else, I think that instead of SEO losing our piece of the pie or getting less of the pie, the pie will get bigger and we have more things in our toolbelt to do our job.
ChatGPT when it is launched in Bing around Q2 will be something that might get some share from Google because it’s new and exciting (and potentially the only place to use it for free – I see it being a paid service soon) and it’ll be providing instant answers similar to what Google/Bing is doing today for certain queries. But it still won’t replace the need to convert, at least not yet or in any way that I can see. If customers still need something, they will still need to go to a site to do that. They’ll just have to go through a lot more BS AI-generated content in the SERPs to get there.
