Remember when orkut and google+ were big?
Posted by Saran-24 on August 30, 2024 at 7:45 amDo you remember when Orkut and Google+ were the big names in social media? These platforms once had their moment in the spotlight, connecting millions of users. Orkut was a pioneer in online communities, while google+ tried to change the social media landscape. But today, they’ve both faded away.
What other platforms can you think of that were once huge but are now pretty much gone? Let’s take a trip down memory lane and discuss!

GuestAugust 30, 2024 at 9:40 amI’ve never heard of Orkut and Google+ never even took off. So no, neither were ever “big.”

GuestAugust 30, 2024 at 3:17 pmGoogle+ activity was not organic. They forced every marketer to post on Google+ because they’d prioritize businesses and site pages with Google+ pages and posts in search rankings. I always felt like we were just appeasing the Google SEO gods and yelling into the abyss, because not a soul interacted with those posts. Personally I only saw 1 account that had any real activity, and they already had a very popular blog.
I also remember LINE, which is very popular in Asia but is pretty uncommon in America. I had a few friends on it and I thought it’s fun, but we grew apart so I don’t have anyone to use LINE with now.
