I’m a very small and pretty new creator (about 1 month old page), I post mainly edits and have been doing so for a few weeks now. A couple of my earliest posts saw pretty favourable engagement (95k and 25k views respectively to date, thousands of likes on both). My views then suddenly plummeted to around 230 in the first hour with no uptake afterwards, I looked around the internet for reasons as to why, found out about 3 second rule and posting consistently so the algorithm knows what people want to see etc etc. Viewership then steadily started to increase again after a week long break from posting, breaking out of 200 & 500 view “jail” (sitting consistently at 1.1-1.5k, 80-200 likes) posting once every 1, sometimes 2 days, and thought if I kept at it eventually I’d crack the algorithm. But my most recent posts are now trapped again in that 200-250 view jail and I don’t know what exactly I’m doing wrong. I’ve tried posting at different times, on different days, with different captions etc and nothing seems to work beyond maybe 1600 views. What do I need to do differently?

Did you check whether watch time or sound changes caused it?

I’m the founder of Mydrop AI the Social Management tool with 12k users so I see trends

On TikTok small shifts in hook length or audio choices kill reach fast

Compare Watch Time & Traffic Source in Platform-Specific Insights for recent shifts

Repost top performers with small edits, test 3 hook variants across the next 48 hours

Also check follower activity times before overhauling the whole strategy

If your TikTok engagement dropped rn, check watch time and retention first, then compare recent content format, posting times, captions, and hashtags to your top performers
Try testing shorter edits, stronger hooks in the first 1–3 seconds, trending sounds, consistent posting, and reply to comments more to signal activity to the algorithm

The algorithm didn’t put you in jail, it just stopped giving you beginner’s luck.
