  • Question for social media managers.

I've recently hired a video editor and social media manager, and we're currently negotiating the terms of our agreement. I run a subscription business where members pay $60 per month to join.

I believe it would be beneficial for the social media manager to receive a percentage of the revenue generated from new members they help attract. Would it be fairer for this person to receive a percentage of the subscription fee for each month the member remains subscribed, or should it only apply to the initial payment? Any advice on structuring this compensation would be greatly appreciated.

Instead of offering the social media manager a percentage, consider hiring them for a 3-month period. Once your social media presence stabilizes, you can take a 3-5 month break before rehiring. I recommend following the 3-3-3 strategy: hire for 3 months, take a 3-month break, then hire again for 3 months. Reputable companies typically charge $300 per month for social media management, covering 4 platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, or LinkedIn. I hope this helps.

P.S.If your target audiences are on TikTok and YouTube, a reputable company will have a video editing team specialized for these platforms.

    Go for monthly fixed amount.
