Not growing on Social media is making me so fustrated
Posted by on May 4, 2026 at 10:34 pmHi! I am currently 20, in college, making content on the side on TikTok and Instagram for around 1.5 years. I've had some successful videos on both platforms, 2 videos reaching over 1M views, and some 100K videos. I mainly make videos about cooking recipes. However, it is hard because I live in a dorm, so it is difficult to make good recipes and be aesthetic. The problem is that all my videos average around 2K views, and while I am grateful, I feel like I put in a lot of work filming and editing (making use of the tight space). Every time I post a video and see that the views are slow, I get really upset and frustrated. I've been posting around 3x a week, and it's making me more sad than excited :(. I feel like I've tried everything. How do I have a better relationship with social media as a creator?

Stop treating the algorithm like a meritocracy and start treating it like a slot machine you shouldn’t be gambling your mental health on.
