Looking for some direction in local SEO. If you see my other recent post, my Google rankings are very solid. Without exaggeration, I’m simply crushing my competition. Easily topping all my top competitors. Only international brands are challenging me, and I’m still ahead of them by a wide margin.

But my local SEO has me at #4 (according to SEMrush local heat map). Frankly, this annoys me. The three competitors with better local SEO are nowhere near my results for keywords.

Bit of backstory: we are in tourism providing a service. While we are in the Caribbean, 90% of our clientele comes from the USA. But it seems for the people already on the island, that I’m missing out on the map pack results. Obviously I want this to change. I feel like I should also be easily #1 here, too.

I know the basics. Making sure my contacts are all identical in every website I can find to create a business profile. But I feel like I’m missing something here. I have 58 keywords in the Top 3, but fall to #4 for local SEO while the top 3 businesses in local SEO heat map have exactly 0 combined keywords in the Top 3. That leaves me scratching my head on how they are doing it.

So what am I missing? Maybe I need to review the basics of local SEO again. Or maybe I’m missing out on a few “tricks” they know. Whatever it is, it’s bugging me, and I want to fix it.

What are the best resources for crushing local SEO? Or what is your focus to get that extra boost?

    Appreciate any advice.

Local proximity means a lot. Where is your location in relation to the top 3?
