  • Is this considered high or low competition?

I’m a religious blogger and when doing keyword research I find there’s lots of competition but usually it’s very old content or published by an abandoned blog altogether. Is this still considered high competition?

I’d say it depends on the quality content already out there.

If the existing content is outdated or low quality in general, and you can answer the query better or provide better quality up to date content, you’ll likely be in a good spot.

Just because something is old or not updated doesn’t mean it’s not great quality, meets the user intent and has great backlinks

Whether the content is old or even on an otherwise abandoned site really has absolutely nothing to do with the level of competition.

Pretty sure there hasn’t been too much change to the Bible in about 2,000 years – of course the content is going to be old.

Maybe approach the abandoned site owner to see if they will sell their site to you. Old sites that aren’t being monetised must have some potential future value
