Hello ?? I hope someone can advice me on a re-accuring problem that’s bothering me regarding my Tiktok account.
I’m losing followers lately. The more content I make, the faster I’m losing them.

I’m from the Netherlands and I made my account (when Tiktok was starting out) in the first place to post more random video’s with Dutch memes and video’s with my dog. One of those went viral once and my followage went from 5k to 21k.

I never intended to be a “dog” account. I tried after that but I didn’t like the urgency / stress it could be for my dog to “do something for the camera”. I stopped with posting video’s for I think almost 6 months.

Since 2017 I am also a Twitch Streamer. When I started Tiktok I was on a break. I restarted and I figured I could also utilize my 21k Tiktok followers for that. But I got demotivated because my video’s were hardly getting any views and I was losing followers. I stopped again.

Now I restarted again since a couple weeks. And the same thing is happening, even faster. I don’t know if I am doing more harm to my account. I’m not sure but I think I’m losing followers because I am not posting any dog content since I got them from that video in the first place.

But I also don’t know if losing followers will cause my video’s to not be send to the FY page that much or if they are just “bad” video’s for Tiktoks algoritm. If I knew which one it was I could take steps according to a fitting solution.

I am posting once a day and they are clips but nicely edited with funny moments and happenings from my twitchstreams. @ chiefnadia

I am willing to put in the work.

    Thank you.

    Nadia

Hi, the average viewer tend to follow an account for one particular type of content. For example if you’re posting pet videos, pet lovers will flock in. These same pet people will not necessarily convert to gaming video viewers. Similarly gaming viewers will not convert to political content. I’ve seen reputed wrestling channels take a nosedive the moment they started posting a couple videos promoting their girlfriend’s make up channel.

Since you mentioned you changed content type a couple times, this might be the reason for the lowering followers.

Because again, unless you’re a flamboyant personality like let’s say Logan Paul, people doesn’t follow you for you. They follow you for your content. You’re the “make up girl”, or the “Warhammer gaming channel” or the “cute husky account” or the “Lego guy” etc.

It’s sounds demotivating and dehumanising I know. But in an internet where millions of people are pushing out content. Being recognised as anything is a good thing (!!!) I suppose.

So. I suggest you decide on one particular type of content. And instead of trying to get one viral post, create a niche but loyal follower base around you and watch your channel slowly but surely bloom. A good example of this is iAmDulo on Instagram.
