  • Is copying viral videos unethical?

I saw a popular influencer recommend copying videos but I’m not sure if it’s ethical?

because on one hand every creator learns from other creators, nothing is original, etc. on the other hand i’ll catch myself wanting to basically remake someone’s video with my own spin and i genuinely can’t tell if that’s smart or a dick move

    Any thoughts or advice?

copying verbatim is unethical but putting your own spin on something or following a trend is pretty normal! when in doubt I usually just tag the person who inspired me; I’m never mad when someone uses my idea and gives credit

tbh most original short form contest is just the same 12 formats wearing different clothes anway people only get weird about it when the copy is lazy enough to notice immediately

Copying a viral video can be unethical, especially if you copy without giving credit.
