For a musician that wants to start pushing music in 2023, would y’all suggest to repurpose my personal account or start a new one.

I ask mainly because I wonder about how the algorithm works towards pushing content to the right crowds. Personal accounts vary versus a new, music niched only account from the start may work better. Idk. That’s why I’m asking y’all ?

I imagine though just like the tiktok algorithm, you can train an old account to be something else based on posts and interactions.

I’d focus on getting pages to post you. Rather then trying to post it independently on your account. Just have a nice grid of 6-9 pics and do the rest in your stories.

My husband and I do a lot on social media and have repurposed our personal accounts multiple times. In my opinion that’s the better option as you already have a follower base of people who know you and are likely to interact with your content. That is what drives your algorithm, so starting from scratch you’ll have limited to no engagement and you’ll likely be trying to promote your new account on your personal one anyways. Just change your account to business, and start posting the content you want. I disagree with the other comment about only doing a simple grid and nothing else- it’s not the way to grow anymore. Insta flipped from perfectly curated feeds to constant & organic uploads. Reels are your friend, and soon you’ll be able to monetize your reels and get paid just for posting (I think it takes about 3 months or so after switching to business). Good luck

I’d start over. New accounts get insane engagement.
