  • How do I edit someone else’s site?

Posted by Cold_Program_8110 on August 19, 2023 at 5:13 pm

I don’t know how to edit someone else’s site. I extracted the html code using google inspect and am currently optimising it. However, I have no idea how to apply these changes to the actual site. I know it has something to do with the CMS, but I still don’t know. I’ve been trying to find the answers for hours please help 🙁

You need to edit the code base, depending on what type of platform the site is using (WordPress, square space, wix, drupal, craft cms etc) there is going to be a number of different ways this is done. Typically more robust platforms are going to have code repositories so you’ll need to become familiar with git and GitHub.

Depends on what you are trying to edit, webflow is a no/low code platform and not everything can be edited.

But yes, you’d need a login.

Based on your post, I think you should stay away from people’s websites in the nicest way possible.

Use builtwith.com to see what the site builder (CMS) is and if they have one you need a login. From there it just depends on the CMS how you’ll make changes but honestly if you’re don’t know this part you should prioritize learning WordPress and maybe square space, wix, etc before selling SEO services. It’s a prerequisite

This cannot be done, at least the way you describe it.

If people could remotely modify a site’s code without having the permission and allowance to do so, the internet wouldn’t make any sense at all.

I’m sorry but this is not possible, that’s just not how it works.
