    My plumbing company has (almost) the exact name of another plumbing company. We are in SC, they are in NC but only about 50 miles away. Our name is “______ plumbing of the Carolina’s LLC” and they’re name is “________ plumbing”. The “______”’s are the same name. When you look up “___ plumbing”, their GBP comes up and ours doesn’t. They do have way more reviews than us but is there anyway we can get ours to show up and not theirs? Also when you look up “____ plumbing of the Carolina’s LLC”, their GBP still comes up. Anyway to fix??

    The three pillars of local SEO: Proximity, Relevance, and Prominence.

    50 miles is a good distance apart, but depending on the radius of where the searcher is searching, then Prominence is going to likely be the deciding factor here as relevance is equal (both are plumbers) – especially since you said they have way more reviews.

    * You need to make sure that your GBP is completely optimized making sure to include the service areas that you serve.
    * Get citations from local entities like the chamber of commerce, town/city hall, etc.
    * Work on getting reviews
    * bonus points if those reviews include relevant keywords
    * Start creating posts
    * especially if you offer any promos
    * Add FAQs to your listing

    Also for your site, you need to write articles about plumbing questions that people are asking in Google.

    You’ll have to optimize for your location. So creating local citations and local Google Business posts, updating the content to match search intent. Theres a few options we could look at. PM with the details and I’ll take a look for you.

    Associate the legal name of your business with the service areas. You may be helped with this by:

    * Creating transparency in business information by creating complete, validated and easily verifiable information.
    * Creation of relevant structured data representing the business, including localization and geo identifiers.
    * Creating a match between your website content, including localization and business profile info panels, and creating linked data between them.

    Ideally, when querying “a plumber near me” in SERP, your business should be shown in the top 6 or 10 depending on the competition for your localization.
