  • Got a notification from Google Search Console about collecting data from my site now, when it’s been up for a few months

I published a website about 4 months ago and I've seen impressions and clicks since month one but I just got this notification in Google Search Console, does that mean something changed?

"Google systems confirm that on 12 April 2026 we started collecting Google Search impressions for your website in Search Console. This means that pages from your website are now appearing in Google search results for some queries. Here’s how you can monitor your site’s Search performance using Search Console."

Has anyone experienced any change in behaviour since you received that message?

Same I just ignored it. For all 20 or so of my sites, some have been live on the Search console for years as well…

Also received this for quite a few websites and see no change in behaviour.

Happened on some of my properties. No change I can identify.

Yeah, I’ve seen similar messages before and it usually doesn’t mean anything suddenly “changed” with your rankings or indexing.

Search Console sometimes just starts *formally reporting impressions data* after a delay or after it finishes validating enough data for a property. It can also happen when Google updates how it processes or backfills Search Analytics data, so older activity gets reclassified or reprocessed under the newer reporting system.

If you were already seeing clicks and impressions, your site was definitely being indexed and shown before this message. This is more about reporting visibility in GSC than a change in how Google is treating your site.

I wouldn’t expect any behavioral shift from Google itself based on that notification alone. Did you notice any dip or spike around the same dates, or is everything looking normal in performance reports?

Pretty normal sometimes GSC lags or resets tracking. If you were already getting impressions, nothing major changed

Yeah I’ve gotten that before, it’s more of a delayed “official” confirmation than a real change.

In my logs, impressions were already coming in weeks before that message, no noticeable jump after. Feels like GSC just batches or thresholds when it decides to notify.

for the last 6 months (i guess), Google missed collecting certain data, so impressions and clicks on GSC are either too high or too low. so this is just a notification related to the issue they detected
