From u/lilray on X (via GlennGabe) – thanks for sharing

As of May 7, 2026, FAQ rich results are no longer appearing in Google Search. We will be dropping the FAQ search appearance, rich result report, and support in the Rich results test in June 2026. To allow time for adjusting your API calls, support for the FAQ rich result in the Search Console API will be removed in August 2026.

As this sub and many of our related experts that we share, like u/jakehundley – Mod of r/agency – a great sister sub to r/SEO and r/SEO_Digital_Marketing – this isn't surprising.

As we said – Google doesnt actually read FAQ Schema anyway – because less than 0.001% of site qualify

Me halfway through adding FAQ schema to an entire site per the clients wishes 😬 thankfully it’s a small site.

But this is only for a snippet itself, it is still good way to add context to some keyword?

I wonder what Loren Baker will have to say about this change after he made this post about FAQ schema on LinkedIn yesterday: [https://www.linkedin.com/posts/lorenbaker_a-few-years-ago-i-was-adding-faq-schema-share-7458167298303078402-ROYS](https://www.linkedin.com/posts/lorenbaker_a-few-years-ago-i-was-adding-faq-schema-share-7458167298303078402-ROYS)

I’ll leave it as-is since semantic markup may still be useful for other search engines like Microsoft Bing and AI crawlers.

This is old news. FAQPage rich results were depreciated back in 2023.

Does this impact the People Also Ask SERP feature? One of my strategies is question-focused content to optimize for those SERPs and to better feed answer engines

They might be dropping it from rich results but AI is desperate for FAQs and Q&As for AEO.

The worst part is that manager, or agency owner who basically uses chatgpt as their own little conscience sitting on their shoulder will look you right in the face and force feed you the schema myths.

I think so many people in SEO subs are just crapping out whatever their LLM says and thinking they’re right.

I’ve never used schema as an SEO tactic because it really never was one.

I’m a food blogger and I use FAQ schema at the end of my recipe posts, but more for the user than for google. It’s helpful and keeps them on the site longer in many instances. Isn’t that still worthwhile?
