Hi guys im a young marketeer trying to specialize in PPC/SEA. Is there anybody here who has experience with generating leads for a company that sells and installs solar panels? High CPC’s (2-8 euro in The Netherlands), saturated market etc, and is willing to share some of their tips? Appreciate it ????????

Im actually a bit curious of this sector as I think we’ll see a lot more happening in this space in the future. While I don’t have a direct view point on running campaigns for solar, thought I’d share a few things based on my experience with sectors that share kind of similar nuances.

    1. Long sales cycle – When a product such as this one has a long sales cycle (research -> lead -> sales meeting -> sales). It’s important to incorporate that into your marketing strategy. So while you may initially compete with the big leagues on getting the leads, eventually look at optimising the funnel above by building a brand equity by also promoting research based content to capture the buyer journey from the start. Similarly look at ways to incorporate some of these things down the sales funnel because getting leads is not the end all be all, getting sales is equally important.

    2. Keyword and strategy – based on the long sales cycle, build a keyword strategy that adapts to it. So build out lower funnel keywords first then look at mid to upper funnel keywords as well that you can Target through RLSA.

    3. Landing page and ad copy – be sure to have good tight themes and LP + ad copy content that goes hand in hand with it offering high relevance as well as compelling enough to convert. You can take help of ChatGPT for some ideas.

    4. Local campaigns – You can leverage running local campaigns since there is a high chance that people would use maps or prefer to have someone who is nearby them for solar panels.

    5. Seasonality – Solar panels sometimes also have seasonality associated with it, I’m not sure how it works for Netherlands but keep that in mind when you work on your overall campaign strategy.

I think overall this should be a good starting point for you but feel free to reach out if you have any more questions or need any further guidance.
