  • Getting a ton of bot traffic from these, should I block them for my website?

I am receiving a ton of traffic from these bots.

    1. byetdance

    2. ahrefsbot

    3. semrushbot

    4. DataForSeoBot

It kind of spins up more servers to render the SSR pages. Should I block these? Will it have any downside?

I mean. It will be a downside for those service’s data. If you aren’t using any of their services then it won’t be harmful to you in any way.

If you have competitors relying on that data about you, then it’s an upside.

If you have partners relying on that data, like backlinks, then that could be a downside.

If you don’t plan on using any of these services and they are actually costing you money, then fekkin do it man.

Not an issue, let the bots do their thing

Don’t block them right away unless your server is dying. Just slow them down. Add a crawl delay rule in your robots.txt for each bot. That tells them to wait a few seconds between hits. Helps with server load without losing SEO data

If they’re hurting performance, rate-limit them instead of fully blocking. Some still help with SEO visibility and data discovery.
