Franchise Content – Which is better for ranking, content owned by the location, or content owned by the root website?
So for a franchise that has 100 stores across the US, we have content that ranks pretty well for certain keywords that isn’t location specific. Typically top 5.
I’ve wanted to play around with moving this content, from the root site, to instead be duplicated (with minor alterations) and live as a page under the location specific content. This would allow us to offer the customer calls to action from the page for that specific location that (is likely) close to them. We’d be able to have titles and descriptions that are location specific.
I’m not looking for someones best guess here. Has anyone ever tried this or something similar to this? Will this rank better, same, or worse than the content in the state that its in currently?
