I wanted to share a positive experience because I feel like we actually got something right for once. We had our annual safety inspection at our facility in Ras Al Khor last week, and for the first time in years, the inspector didn’t have any major complaints about our spill response setup. Previously we’d always get dinged for having outdated or incomplete kits, expired absorbents, or just not having enough coverage across the warehouse. This time around I made sure we were properly stocked with brand new kits at all the key locations, and I even added a couple of extra units near the drum storage area where we’ve had minor leaks in the past. The inspector actually complimented us on having the right types of absorbents for the different fluids we handle, and he appreciated that we had clear signage showing where each kit was located. I found a best spill kits supplier in UAE that had everything we needed and the quality was noticeably better than the cheap stuff we used to buy. The pads are thicker and more absorbent, the socks actually hold their shape when you deploy them, and the containers are sturdy enough to survive being knocked around by forklifts. It’s funny how something as simple as having proper spill response gear can make such a difference in how an inspection goes, and more importantly, it gives me peace of mind knowing we can actually handle a spill properly if one happens. Anyone else noticed how much easier inspections are when you’re properly prepared?
