  • Downgrading the Hosting Plan will Decrease Traffic?

Posted by seohelper on November 8, 2020 at 11:12 am

I’m using Siteground’s GrowBig Plan that supports 25k Users Capacity and Unlimited Sites, but my website’s monthly traffic 15k-17k(Unique Pageviews), and if I downgrade my website to StartUp plan which supports 10k monthly visits, will it affect the traffic consistency? And if I do migrate the plan what precautions should I take keeping SEO in mind?

That would be a mistake and siteground is telling you that would be a mistake by giving you general limits.

The first thing that will happen is you will get throttled. This means that your site will slow down when you have overused your resources. When this happens it will crush your SEO because people will run into 403 errors when they try to access your site.

Do not try to save a few dollars a month if you care about your website. Quality hosting is one of the most important foundations of properly running a website. You should be looking to upgrade not downgrade.

Mate I ditched siteground because the website slowly got slower over the years and the cost is high. I migrated to Cloudways and I haven’t looked back. My websites were all around double the speed with just a migration on the bottom tier 6 USD plan.

My suggestion would be to get a managed vserver (virtual server) with dedicated CPUs.

I got an AMD Epic server with 2 dedicated cores for my projects, it super fast. Within 1 second the website serves up to 300 visitors without speed-loss. That means, within one hours it can serve 1 Millions visitors. A wordpress-site is being served within 40-80ms (php).

I pay just 8 Euro per month. It is not possible to get a faster vserver for this price, at least not in Germany. But I know how to administrate a server. If you do not know it, you should learn that.
