Correct Approach For Changing Bid Strategy?

Posted by Relative-Positive418 on June 15, 2023 at 11:57 am

    Hello all,

I am running a PPC campaign in Microsoft Advertising and I have > 40 conversions per month for once of my campaigns that is using a Enhanced CPC big strategy. I was told my a Microsoft Ads representative that once my campaign received 40 conversions per month, I could switch my bid strategy.

Am I able to create a new campaign with a new bid strategy and use the same conversion goal and UET tag? Or, do I have to switch the bid strategy on the current campaign?

To put it more simply, I am confused about existing data, existing conversions, and how to go about split testing various bid strategies for an existing campaign that is successful with enhanced CPC.

Would strongly recommend you don’t change your bid strategy on bing if you are happy with your results.

Bings automation is notoriously not very good. Those reps will say whatever to get you to spend more or adopt product features. It’s not like Google ads where they have it figured out.

In general ads on bing are like an old tv antenna. You get it just right and the channel works, then someone opens a door or you move 3 feet and it’s all whacked out.

If you just want more conversions, would recommend you slowly increase budget on the campaign a few bucks every 5 days. No more than a 10% increase, and ideally less. It’s painfully slow but your performance will be more stable than switching bid strategies.

Just my two cents. If you switch, no matter how you do it, I would expect performance to dip or even tank for a period of time.

You change the bid strategy on your current campaign.
