Career Changer Here: Is Hiring a Cover Letter Writer in Ireland Worth It?
Hi everyone,
I’m moving from hospitality management into project coordination, and I’m finding the cover letter far harder than the CV. My CV can list what I’ve done, but the cover letter has to explain why someone with my background should be considered for a completely different type of role. Every draft I write either sounds apologetic or just repeats my CV in sentences.
I’ve been looking at services where you can hire a cover letter writer, and I’d like to hear from people who have actually used one before I spend any money.
- Did the writer capture your own voice, or did the letter sound generic and “written by someone else”?
- How much input did you have? Was there a call or questionnaire first, or did they just ask for your CV?
- How well did they handle explaining a career change or a gap?
- Is it better to pay for a single letter I can adapt, or for a service that tailors one for each application?
- How long did it take, and how many revisions were included?
- Did it help get interviews, or did it make little difference?
I’d also like to know what to look for in a good service. For example, should they ask for the job advert before writing, and how do I tell a tailored letter from a template with my name added?
Any honest advice, good or bad, would be appreciated, and I’d be happy to see any examples of openings that worked for you.
Thanks in advance!
