  • Canonical for product listing websites

I have a product listing website with vast different products, does it make sense to set canonical tag or without in this case? To Google it may seem like the page structure all looks the same but the content of the product could range from wearables to consumables. I’m worried about duplicated content. Anyone have experience with this?

Try screening frog to check. If found anything with different pages with http, https and www then you need to add canonical tag on website.

Since you have 2different URLs with the same content, …Definitely, it’s better to go with a canonical tag.

Are you saying you have an eCommerce site, with may different types of products in different category ranging from wearable to consumables, yet you are worried Google will see them as duplicates because the product page structure is the same?

Page structure doesn’t cause duplciate content issues, duplciate content does. If your products are different, they should have different content, so should be ok.

You you should always use a self referencing canonical tag though
