On my end i have to choose very carefully if i am going to rank the product in a multiple listing ( many variants) own product page and sometimes even a whole sub category page where i put the main product in but with optimized category seo text. For each category or subcategory page i have to make sure that i have blog posts that cover that specific topic and link to this page. Also the supported content has to be linked to some pretty strong pages that you already have. It is never as easy as just create seo optimized pages for a small business with 10 pages
