Beginner here — what’s the biggest mistake to avoid when launching a website?
Posted by WebNovaHub on March 26, 2026 at 1:48 amHey everyone,
I’m just starting my journey into building websites and blogging. There’s so much information out there (hosting, tools, SEO, etc.), and honestly it feels a bit overwhelming.
If you had to start over today, what would you avoid doing?
Would really appreciate any advice 🙏

GuestMarch 26, 2026 at 2:28 amI know someone who launched a directory website using custom code, and he asked when his website would start to rank. He isn’t aware that most of his pages are non-indexable. Probably at least 80% to 90% of his pages.
Most of his pages are already built as well, without going through keyword research. Now he has to rework everything.
The lesson here is to plan and research (from an SEO aspect) before building the website, or you’ll have to do the same work twice.

GuestMarch 26, 2026 at 3:18 amAvoid publishing posts or pages and calling it a day. As someone already pointed out, you need to make sure your content is indexable, because if it isn’t, it won’t show up on Google or Bing no matter how “optimised” it is.
Publish a few pages and assess demand in Search Console after 30–60 days. Use the data to rework existing content or re-prioritise.
Indexable but not getting indexed? Solve that problem first. You can’t monetise your content or get customers if you’re not appearing on Google and getting traffic.

GuestMarch 26, 2026 at 4:02 amBiggest mistake is building a whole site before proving a single page can rank and get traffic. People spend weeks on design, structure, tools, then realize nothing actually moves.
If starting over, I’d pick one very specific topic, create a small cluster around it, and try to get that ranking first. That teaches you more than launching 30 random posts.
Also, don’t treat all keywords as equal. Even “low competition” can be dead if the intent is wrong or dominated by sites with real authority.
One practical step is to track a handful of pages closely instead of the whole site. You want to see what actually shifts rankings, not guess based on everything at once.
Trade-off is it feels slower at the start, but you avoid wasting months building something that never gets traction.
