  • Alternator died on my Acadia and I need it fixed fast

Battery light came on yesterday and by this morning the car was struggling to start, so I’m fairly sure the alternator has given up. I need it sorted quickly because I’m relying on the car for work and I can’t afford to be without it for days. I’ve had a bad run with garages lately where a simple job turns into a week long saga, so I want somewhere that can turn this around quickly without cutting corners. I’m in DIP so I’ve been looking for a Quick GMC repair garage in DIP, but I’d like to hear from anyone who’s had electrical work done locally and had a good experience. Is an alternator swap on an Acadia a straightforward job, or is there anything I should watch out for like coding or the belt while they’re in there? Also, should I be replacing the battery at the same time given it’s been drained a few times now?
