    Advice/thoughts for general store PMax

Posted by samd1994 on May 3, 2023 at 10:08 am

    Hi all,

I have a general home decor store with around 200 products which I have ran with one asset feed only pmax campaign with all products in it for a few months. I am trying to scale it but unless I lower the target ROAS it won’t spend the budget. Feed is optimised.

Should I split my products into separate asset groups or campaigns? I am still only using feed only, should I start to introduce assets to successful groups when split?

I am only targeting one country at the moment.

Any tips/advice on how to scale this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks and have a nice day.

Splitting your products by category in asset groups is a good idea. You could also segment your products in different PMax campaigns and start playing around with tROAS goals that way.

Be aware that PMax is often very hard to scale, as a part of PMax is remarketing, and remarketing is unscalable. Let’s assume the average person sees 2 remarketing ads within a week after visiting your site for the first time and buying after an average of 6 days.

Showing them 4 remarketing ads over the same period will not affect their purchase speed. Nobody ever decided to purchase something faster because they saw more ads.

And with PMAX, we have no control over this. So make sure to look at the back-end of your systems properly and try to mix in some standard shopping potentially, as standard shopping is still the #1 campaign for acquiring cold traffic.
