₹40k/Month 150 Reels, 5 Podcasts, Posting on 3 Accounts, Marketing – Got Rejected
So, I'm a new freelancer here in India.
A prospect called me, and told their requirements. The prospect has 15+ years of experience in news reporting.
- They wanted me to create 3 social media accounts each on FB, Insta and YouTube.
- Get the branding done.
- Create 5 reels/day on average (from raw video), so 150 reels a month.
- Edit 5 podcast/month on average of 40 minutes each(from raw video), maintain Shubhankar Mishra standards in the editing.
- Posting all of the above on all 3 social media accounts.
- Marketing (Ad campaigns, boost, including strategies etc) and get 7k-8k followers within a month.
Note: Client confirmed that there would be A-roll only. But for podcast, I would have to split the screens and make effects, like sometimes the two people would appear top/bottom vertical, and sometimes left/right horizontal etc. Add sound effects according the emotions conveyed an etc to engage the audience.
And here I quoted him this:
1 + 2 = ₹600 (One time fee)
3 = ₹30k/month (for 150 reels)
4 = ₹3200/month (for 5 podcasts)
5 = ₹5k/month (posting on all 3 accounts)
6 = ₹5000 for 3 months in total flat fee + Ad Campaign/Boost budget according to the client's choice
Total = ₹42,000 for the first month (I discounted ₹1800 for him upfront)
Note: I told him that it's not a guarantee that he would get 7k-8k followers within a month, so we may need to run the marketing for two or even three months as it depends on various factors like content quality, geography, frequency of posting, timing etc, so a flat fee for 3 months).
His voice felt frustrated, in anger, he told the video editing is expensive, he would do that by himself, and he wants only marketing done by me. So he would meet me tomorrow for discussion over marketing stuff only.
I'm confused right now, as a beginner freelancer, I called many known freelancers in my network, asked them their charges, I have read many reddit QnA, and lowered the prices to get the project. But got rejected. I'm not taking it personally, not getting emotional, nor venting here.
I want your comments/arguments, whether this quotation is over-priced? Is this the weird quotation you have ever seen? (if yes, please tell me why).
I'm open for suggestions, criti-cism, 'Ah moments', improvements etc.
