Essentially when I was in hs and college I was a vlogger and got over 1,000 subscribers and was a YouTube partner making some ‘small’ amounts of money for fun. It’s been like 8 years since I uploaded there. I don’t plan on vlogging again like I did but do you think I should revive it since I have the 1,000 there (even though most are probably gone) or should I start fresh with 0?

I would stay on the old channel, personally. I did this earlier this year after having been away for 4 years and switching topics and it’s worked out just fine. I think it gives you a leg up starting with some subs already, but that’s just me.

Having an old channel might mean more than just another vlogger, at least you have SOMETHING that stands out a little

I’ve been uploading stuff on my old channel just because it’s nice to see everything pile up in one place. Plus it cements me as someone who has been uploading for over a decade, which feels kinda cool at this point.

From a major, huge massive ad agency in the world trade center, with thousands of employees and proprietary data sets – no – we’ve run into this. People seem to be “punished” when leaving an account dormant and returning, especially if content is different. Definitely better to go from scratch, scout’s honor – seen this situation a few times.

If you haven’t touched it for 8 years there’s a good chance those subscribers have forgotten they’re subscribed to you. If you start uploading new videos (especially if they’re different from before) they’ll probably unsubscribe. I think you’d be better off starting fresh.

If you have earned a good number of subscribers to your channel, it is better to rebuild the old YouTube. Just ensure that you add more engaging content to improve it.

You need not start fresh youtube channel. Just rebuild your old one and upload quality content. Maintain the continuity of uploading videos and you are all set. you will get new subscribers on your old channel only.

I would rebuild the old channel. It can be good for your visibility if you will use the actual “power” of the existing followers. Maybe you should make a little intro to name why and what is different on your new channel/direction.

If you already have an old YouTube channel that is already monetized, then you should stick with that. YouTube will have a new set of rules next year that will make monetization even harder.
