  • Would two instagram accounts mess up the algorithm for reels?

So basically I have two accounts. One is my personal that I use everyday to talk to people, its pretty private, however I tested it out and when I posted a reel on it, it got sent to about 900 non follower people and a couple followed me from that post and it got like 2k views and after a day or two I removed it. I posted the same reel on a brand new account ( about a month old ) and it literally got 15 views.

So my question is simply the title: Could posting on a 'main' or having more than one instagram accounts could mess up your algorithm? I have had great success on shorts and tiktoks but I'm getting really really perplexed on reels atm

    Thanks for reading! Cheers!

as far as i know the algorithm pushes reels with any form of interaction. So your private account probably triggered friends and family to like, comment and share. While your new account is probably did not trigger those interactions and therefore the reel did not get pushed out to other accounts.

i am pretty sure having two accounts does not mess up the algorithm, many people do. However TikTok has another algorithm and videos tend to be shown more to people that are not following you than on instagram.
It usually just takes time to grow a following and reach on instagram.

    Hope it makes sense 🙂

No, having two accounts does not mess up the algorithm. You don’t have anything to worry about.
