  • Would Paying for SEO Plugin Improve Positioning over Free Version?

Posted by JYanezez on October 3, 2024 at 2:05 pm

    Hello all,

I realize a comprehensive SEO strategy is much more than simply installing a SEO Plugin. Nonetheless, would using a paid or premium SEO plugin help position your site better than a free version? or, at least from the plugin point of view, is the free plugin sufficient? (from there on it depends on other factors)

    cheers and thank you

SEO is not about the publisher telling Google what to do. SEO doesnt work on the publisher saying rank me now Google because “trust me bro”

Paid plug-ins dont carry more weight or give sites authority.

    TL;DR: No.

    No.

Plugins don’t have anything to do with SEO.

The short answer in no, BUT of course plugin paid version usually have features that could help you do some stuff in a much easier, hassle free way.

For example Yoast SEO paid plugin comes with an internal linking tool for WordPress that makes internal linking process much faster and easier than doing it by hand, link by link.

I think a clear comparison is that of the washing machine. The washing machine does not make your clothes cleaner than if you washed them by hand; it simply allows you to obtain the same result with less effort and greater efficiency.

Obviously, if you are lazy, incapable or don’t have time to wash clothes by hand, the washing machine is a nice to have and it will do a better job than you would, but the maximum level of cleanliness achievable will always be the same.

No because Plugins can at best tell you whats wrong or what to do.

You have to know which features you are looking for, and decide accordingly, whether the free ones offer you enough capabilities. You don’t need a jackhammer to drill a hole in the wall, but you won’t get far digging a tunnel with a spoon either.

The only paid thing you will find that guarantees you appearing at the top of SERPs is called Google Ads.

You’re the best plugin. Go to your pages as though you are a stranger to it and it’s the first time you’ve visited it. What changes would you make?

    1. What paid features are you looking at?

    2. What platform? WordPress or something else?

On WP I see SEO plugins as simply a means of installing the necessary on-page components:

    – meta title & description

    – social & other metadata

    – control & submit sitemaps

    – control link attributes (nofollow, dofollow, etc.)

    – control noindexed pages

The free plugins are sufficient for all of these.

As for schema, I customize and write it by hand.

I don’t go by Yoast or AIOSEO “scores”. They are subjective metrics based on the plugin developers’ opinions. Whatever data they get it from is anyone’s guess.

I keyword-optimize elements based on my & others’ own testing and data of what it takes to rank.

**Remember:** NONE of these plugins can guarantee or assure ranking. They are a means of **implementing SEO optimizations**, so I treat them as such, not a guarantee of rankings.

They are certainly not a replacement for your own SEO skill & knowledge.

You must understand what element does what in each keyword, each niche, and each locality.

Most importantly, you have to pay attention how the Search Console graphs respond after every optimization you do. *That* alone, in most cases, can give you the data to determine what works and what doesn’t.

The free version can also handle basic SEO needs, but ultimately, your success will depend on your goals and how effectively you implement SEO strategies beyond just the plugin.
