  • Wix Studio is NOT for Web Developers

I am incredibly frustrated with Wix Studio and their pricing model for web design agencies. Wix is charging web developers consumer RETAIL prices on hosting, which leaves absolutely no profit margin for web designers. Their yearly rate for a hosting plan is $19 a month for US customers. And guess what? It's significantly cheaper for UK customers.

To put this into perspective, let’s compare this to other hosting providers:

    • Bluehost: $2.95/month
    • SiteGround: $3.99/month
    • HostGator: $2.75/month

These prices make Wix's $19/month look absolutely ridiculous. How can they justify such a steep price when there are much more affordable options available that offer similar, if not better, hosting services?

Web designers shouldn't be at the mercy of waiting for Wix's 50% off discount just to get a fair price on hosting. It's absurd that the only way to obtain this discount is through regular Wix plans, not Wix Studio. This renders Wix Studio overpriced and essentially useless for professionals who need consistent and reasonable pricing to sustain their business. Wix's current model forces designers to juggle between platforms and discount periods, which is not only inconvenient but also unprofessional. Wix needs to understand that reliability and fair pricing are crucial for web designers to deliver quality services to their clients.

Wix's Editor X was a total flop, failing to deliver on its promise of being a revolutionary design tool for professionals. Despite its advanced features, it lacked the polish and reliability needed for high-end web design projects. In an attempt to rectify this, Wix hastily released Wix Studio, but it quickly became apparent that it was not ready for prime time. Many users found themselves dealing with a buggy, unfinished product that couldn't seamlessly transition their Editor X sites to the new platform, causing frustration and disruptions to their workflows.

Adding insult to injury, Wix's marketing of Wix Studio as a superior solution felt like a slap in the face to those who had invested time and resources into Editor X. Instead of a smooth upgrade, users faced a clunky, confusing migration process that did little to improve their experience.

If Wix wants to market itself as a freelancer web design CRM, it should offer web designers better pricing on web hosting. As it stands, Wix's pricing model is completely out of touch with the needs and realities of web design agencies. We need competitive pricing to make any profit, and Wix is clearly not providing that.

Wix, it’s time to step up your game and offer web designers a fair deal. I'm done. I will be rebuilding all of my Wix sites to another CRM (easy to do with AI) that values web designers and offers competitive pricing without the need for discounts. It's time to move on to a platform that understands and supports the needs of web design agencies.

Couldn’t agree more, Wix needs to rethink their pricing for web devs ASAP.

Lol, you just finding that out? Its for quick sites, not for a serious actual attempt at a website.

I’m sure there are workarounds to the problems you have, but yeah same as Squarespace – just a quick site builder for non-devs.

After reading this I’m left baffled. The title and post length promise a well thought out and methodical play-by-play indictment of Wix Studio as a product.

Instead, it’s a long drawn out way of announcing to the world that their monthly fee is too much. The monthly fee is not “hosting”, as you put it. It is the SAAS fee for the product you are using to build the website. The fee is for Wix Studio, not it’s hosting.

What’s more surprising is that you are taking the unique position of assuming the cost yourself, instead of adding it to the client’s cost. I can’t wrap my head around that particular part. If you build low quality budget websites, this product is not for you. If you build quality websites and charge accordingly, the added couple hundred dollars a year is not a significant addition to your fee.

I don’t think the product is without fault, personally I find it glitchy. But it seems that you either misunderstand it or are not in the target audience.

Edit: it’s another bot account dedicated to regurgitating this post. Should have known.

Coming from WordPress when I tried Wix I first felt it’s really good but as I kept on using it more and more I realised how inefficient it is and what it lacks , that’s just my pov.
