Reddit (RDDT.N), opens new tab has partnered with OpenAI to bring the social media platform's content to popular chatbot ChatGPT, the companies said on Thursday, sending Reddit's shares up 12% in extended trade.The deal underscores Reddit's attempt to diversify its revenue stream by making its user-generated content available for training of artificial intelligence models.OpenAI will also become a Reddit advertising partner as part of the deal.

I’m not sure I like this.
There already is non-human (as in AI) generated content on Reddit (it has an API after all).
If Reddit becomes more significant as a search signal, it will just increase the amount of AI-generated drivel – the same thing that’s happening to the rest of the web.

No doubt, Google dislikes this deal because both OpenAI and Google consider reddit for its quality audience. In fact several times Google prefers reddit questions and answers over others in addition, Google give more weight to reddit content for indexation priority. After serving such benefits, Google will expect something from reddit.
Wait both are in race to showcase reddit content on their platform let’s see which platform surfaces the reddit content.
