Why PPC discuss less than SEO?
Posted by OrdinaryActuator7868 on July 7, 2024 at 6:38 amI found tons of SEO releted group, folums, but it's really hard for me to find a single useful PPC/Google Ads group from where I can learn. why?

The problem is Geminii/ChapGPT is the conduit now and most people are gravitating there cause they are tired of the ad clutter and unrelated ad content. Although ads will now be appearing in ChatGPT it will be when its a 1:1 pr very close match.
People get intimidated by PPC easily. SEO is semi hacking….you keep optimizing to that result. However with PPC, there’s too much responsibility when $$$$ is involved. A lot of people cannot handle the pressure to earn results.

GuestJuly 7, 2024 at 7:14 amThere’s a lot more people doing seo than ppc. Since there’s a lot more people doing seo there are going to be more questions asked resulting in more discussion.

GuestJuly 7, 2024 at 7:45 amEverybody and their mother can claim to be SEO expert. The barrier to entry is super low. That’s not the case for Google Ads, as you need clients to give you their money to play around with.

GuestJuly 7, 2024 at 8:05 amPPC requires money so that weeds out alot of people. SEO is earned media, so anyone can claim to work in it

GuestJuly 7, 2024 at 8:30 amIn my experience that’s because SEO is a pretty vague skill. There’s lots of theories, but relatively little hard data to back anything up. It’s also a much slower process relying on fairly soft KPIs (traffic mostly). So there’s lots of things that can be talked about without others having hard proof that something that is said is or isn’t true.
PPC on the other hand is much more directly measurable and those that do PPC are used to being held much more directly accountable for business outcomes, so within groups for PPC bullshit gets called out quickly.
Also, the other point about getting experience with PPC being more difficult because there’s money involved is a very fair point.

GuestJuly 7, 2024 at 9:38 ampeople think seo is cheap or even free – so of course more people want to try it. ppc requires money, a lot of money, only people who actually need results (fast) will look into ppc.

GuestJuly 7, 2024 at 10:38 amBecause it’s hella hard. I’ve spent nearly $242k on PPC and been on a hell of a rollar coaster ride for 3 years.

GuestJuly 7, 2024 at 12:13 pmSeveral comments suggest that SEO is either easier to get into or requires only an opinion without proof of success. Maybe, for some. I’d suggest that another factor that contributes to fewer SEM-related communities is the differences between the disciplines.
While SEO is competitive between websites, all the practitioners are trying to answer the same riddle: How to make Google or Bing like your content in the first place. For SEM there’s no riddle to be solved, the rules are pretty clear from the search engines and the competition is directly between the practitioners.
The “us against the algorithm” mindset in SEO leads to more sharing of information across more channels. The “me against you” nature of SEM tends to contribute to less openness and fewer sources for shared information.

GuestJuly 7, 2024 at 5:23 pmThere isn’t really that much to discuss in PPC, as it’s relatively easy to set up and get working.

GuestJuly 7, 2024 at 6:22 pmSEO has zero barriers to entry. Think of the volume of SEO freelancer/agency spam every semi business related email inbox receives each day.
PPC juniors tend to be in house and not out freelancing or in the community much other than soaking up and learning themselves.
PPC experts are busy leaning into their trade and making money for clients.
You can say the same about most other digital channels with the exception of social ads.
