  • Why do business owners face backlash for expressing political opinions on social media?

Posted by Glum_Cauliflower1227 on August 31, 2024 at 11:48 am

As a business owner, if you publicly support one group or political figure over another, it can lead to a significant decline in your business, such as losing followers or a drop in stock prices. For instance, expressing support for a particular country in a longstanding conflict or a specific political figure can lead to severe backlash, even if it's just sharing a personal viewpoint. Why is it that personal political expressions by business owners tend to result in such strong public reactions, even when these views don’t directly relate to their product quality or business operations? Looking for insights into why there is such a stark response to personal opinions in the business world.

What does sharing your political views on social media accomplish? It’s not going to change anyone’s mind.

People who choose to share their views in a very public space – and link them to their business by doing so – should understand that people who don’t support those views may not want to support people who support those views.

You could do that in the past but now this world is full of rabid zombies that will attack anyone they disagree with like day of the dead because some person on TV told them to.

If it’s a personal viewpoint why are you using your brand instead of saying it on your own twitter?
Because you are using the brand recognition to get a larger amount of people to see it.
You are using it as a weapon to spread your viewers to people who don’t care about it, but now they are mad cause they bought something from you.
They don’t want to give their money to politicians.
Cause breaking fucking news they are all pretty terrible.

You are the one making your service or product be associated with politics, politics make people mad.

Why do you want people to support you when your political ideals take away the rights of them or the people they care about?

As a business owner you shouldn’t be talking about your political ideals or using your business to support political campaigns, or else you should accept the consequences of other people not supporting your business because realistically that was *your* choice.

It’s really not a difficult concept to understand. Show your ass and people will decide if they like it. If they don’t, you can’t cry about it.

That’s why I never get political in my business. Well that, and it’s fucking pointless lol I’m not there to argue politics, I’m there to make money.
