This year, I decided to revive a small business from 10 years ago, creating unique skateboards and longboards. I’ve been posting regularly with genuine, no-BS content, and after 3-4 weeks, I started to notice organic growth and increased site visits. I even managed to make a sale after 2 months.

Then life happened. With my family I had to move out of our rental apartment, which took several weeks, and I had to relocate all my equipment until we found a solution. After 60 days, we finally did, and in a few more weeks, we’ll be able to settle down and get back on track. During this time, I didn’t post anything because of everything else going on.

What would be the best strategy to pick up where I left off? I know it’s still early days, but I would really appreciate any advice.

I usually avoid mixing personal life with business development, but I’d like to hear from someone deeply involved in social media. I’m a one-man band (@murksli) active on FB, Insta, and posted once on TikTok when things went south at home.

    Thanks in advance!

I would just pick up where you left off. Chances are your audience won’t notice much a break, but more notice that you’re back! You could even do a “we’re back!” post including your vision for your business and drive engagement. Coming up with a strategy based on your goals is key, and of course consistency. Hope this helps.

It seems like you’re really trying to get back into it and that’s great especially after life threw you curveball at you. Here’s a strategy that can help you pick up where you left off and give you a jumpstart:

**Easy Plan to Get Back on Track**

    1. **Update Your Followers**
    * Post a quick update about why you’ve been quiet and let people know you’re back on stories/descriptions etc. Thank them for sticking around. If you don’t want to mix your personal life in there, you can instead let them know what you have planned for the future with sneak peaks, product ideas, etc.
    2. **Reconnect with Your Audience**
    * Share some of your best content and milestones from before—like cool products or happy customer reviews. Start chatting with your followers again by replying to their comments and messages.
    3. **Plan Your Posts**
    * Make a plan for what you’ll post over the next month with content ideas that are viral or authentic. Make sure you have a really good hook. Think about mixing in product highlights, behind-the-scenes looks, and customer stories and their feedback.
    * Create the posts ahead of time so you’re ready to go. This way, you’ll have plenty of content to share.
    4. **Make a Big Comeback**
    * Start posting according to your plan. Use fun formats like Instagram Stories or Reels to catch people’s attention where they are usually most invested in.
    5. **Boost Your Presence**
    * Run a special promotion or giveaway to get people excited and attract new followers. If you have a bit of budget, you can consider running some targeted ads.
    6. **Stay Engaged**
    * Keep interacting with your audience. Respond to comments and participate in conversations. Check how your posts are performing and see what your followers like. (This is very important so that your followers know that you are back on your game and ready to go. This also makes them feel heard and makes their opinion feel respected)
    7. **Adjust and Improve (trial and error)**
    * Look at how things are going and tweak your strategy based on what’s working best. Keep posting regularly and engaging with your audience. Trial and error are the only way to really know what will work and what wont. Remember you’re not failing, you just found another way that doesn’t work.
